Barclay’s Formula

In order to create a healthier and more productive learning environment professors and students need to inherit a “growth mindset.” If professors can teach their students to, “push out of their comfort zone to learn something new and difficult, ” then they can develop their brains and become smarter (Talks). By being pushed out of their comfort zones and developing their brains, students will look for more creative ideas to handle their problems and situations. Along with obtaining a “growth mindset,” students have to be weary of being taught in a damaging way. It’s possible that schools could, “be training students in thinking styles that will damage their careers, ” and the rest of their lives (Haidt). Schools teach students to be extremely careful not to offend anyone and not challenge ideas. By having a “growth mindset” students will be able to look past the restrictive speech on students, and look to challenge what they believe is wrong and challenge themselves. Not only students, but schools, as well, need to inherit a “growth mindset” to improve their teaching styles.
