Including sources as evidence in my project or any project helps to boost understanding and also back claims made in my work. Project 2 focuses on liberal arts through UNE and liberal arts perspectives from Ungar and Scheuer. Along with the critics in favor of a liberal arts education, I included a naysayer with Steven Waechter. In both drafts I feel as though I was able to incorporate relating quotes smoothly into my paper. An example of my quote inclusion is “Unfortunately, there’s no clear or direct answer, except being provided, “the opportunity to be civically engaged” (CAS Core Handbook 3). UNE needs to be able to specifically state their steps in helping students be prepared for civic engagement outside of college.” I was able to introduce the quote and continue to explain it while moving on to the next sentence. However, it can be difficult to choose the correct quotes that fit and relate to the subject. Unrelated to project 2, in project 1 I somewhat struggled with picking the right quotes. One quote I chose did not fit in smoothly and I realized that through help with my professor. Incorporating others’ ideas with my own was a little challenging because I tended to focus more on others’ ideas than my own. That is something I still have to work on moving forward.
