Synthesis/Connection Table

Social/Economic Implications: The students and faculty in the technology related programs degrade the liberal arts and how they benefit society. However, there are many life skills that the liberal arts teaches its students. It’s important to know how to think critically, communicate with others, and develop an understanding of community. The technical side feels confident in that they only need specific skills, but a combination of specific and general skills/knowledge are required to succeed in the world. Without the necessary skills, students will be unable to secure jobs and the economy will go down. And so will social life if people don’t learn how to communicate with each other.

Metagenre: Knowing patterns and having an enriched major enables students and faculty to understand their field on a much deeper level. The enriched major helps students to separate their genre of a study from the metagenre of their field, but also connect the two together and discover the patterns between them.

Ways of Knowing: It’s important to know skills like reasoning, critical thinking, and general skills with specific skills as well. Knowing is crucial to succeeding in any job or any field of study.

Ways of Doing: In order to learn by doing students must participate in hands on or outside the classroom activities. The best way to learn material is through actually practicing it.
