Liberal arts is not just liberal arts. Many people have the misconseption that liberal arts is solely made up of the arts. However, liberal arts is made up of the arts and the sciences. It’s much more complex than people want to believe or perceive. Historically liberal arts is made up of a multitude of different kinds of art, humanities, citizenship, and sciences (including math). Therefore, liberal arts incorporates STEM material in their teachings. People do not only study the arts when they study liberal arts. It’s more educationally round than people think.

America is a country that values tradition and builds off tradition to be successful. Traditionally, America has primarily been a liberal arts educated country. Some believe that the practice of liberal arts is old fashioned but it’s been working. Other countries are starting to see the importance and value in educating their citizens in the liberal arts. If America stops teaching liberal arts then other countries will surpass the U.S. and become stronger in the field. It will be a political and economic advantage for America to continue to teach the stable curriculum.
