“Safe spaces” allow students, “to be open to ideas and perspectives so that the differences they [the students] encounter are educational” (Roth).
In one of Dweck’s studies the children said, “they would probably cheat next time instead of studying more if they failed a test… they have run from difficulty.”
Dweck believes with developing a “growth mindset” students are able to, “push out of their comfort zone to learn something new and difficult, the neurons in their brain can form new, stronger connections, and over time, they can get smarter” (Dweck).
In order to provide a more productive education environment, Lukianoff and Haidt state that, “members of an academic community should of course be free to raise questions” (Lukianoff/Haidt).
